thanks for your comment! not having done the actual research, it's good to know that the writers of the proposition included a "section 2" to honor legal arrangements. when you say you're "not sure the jury is in" do you mean that there are doubts as to what this section covers?

maybe i'll go back to texas after all! i've spent a lot of time vacationing there, especially camping in northwest texas in guadalupe, and in ft. worth, but kirk hasn't been and we want to go : )

I completely agree with your mood. I often questioned the sanity of being in Texas _before_ Prop 2 passed, much less now. However, I'm not sure the jury is in on whether or not HCPOA's and the like are invalid. The proposition clearly allows for such legal arrangements between two individuals in Section 2. What seems to be more a topic of debate is what this proposition does to the status of common law marriages. *belly laugh*

I'm personally horrified about the direction this country is heading. The nation's people are collectively mypoic and have very short memories. I continually hear and read comments that the environment for gays and lesbians in this country is better than it has ever been. Where?! All I see is an increase in hate, prejudice and hostility. But then - I do live in Texas.
