About Firehouse Theatre
Project (FTP)
The
Firehouse Theatre Project presents important contemporary American
theatre, with an emphasis on plays not previously staged in the
metropolitan Richmond area; as part of that emphasis, FTP develops,
produces, and performs at least one brand-new play each year.
Since its first performances in 1994, the Firehouse Theatre Project
has produced plays wrought in an authentic American voice, and
it has staged its performances at its own authentic Urban American
space-the nearly 90-year-old former Station House #10 of the Richmond
Fire Department. FTP's presentation of off-Broadway and original
works, through its main stage productions and its readings, has
given Richmond audiences a theatre experience similar to-but at
far lower ticket prices-the theatre experience at black-box spaces
in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and other major theatre cities.
